PTC LiveWorx: Vuforia and ThingWorx for the Refinery of the Future

PTC LiveWorx | June 10-13 | Boston, MA

We are pleased to be presenting our solutions at the definitive event for Digital Transformation, PTC Liveworx 19. Focused on the industrial enterprise, LiveWorx brings upwards of 6,500 technologists to discuss business strategies, see demonstrations and discuss the future of IoT.  For the first time ever, CB Technologies is an event sponsor (Booth 920) and will be showcasing our latest Industrial IoT (IIoT) innovations from the Refinery of the Future (RotF), built alongside PTC and other valuable partners like HPE, Intel, Deloitte and more.

Below you can find an introduction to the RotF project and a description of our planned demonstrations.

Please note: PTC is still finalizing some logistics for the LiveWorx agenda. We will update this article with final session information (dates, times and locations) once we have it.

Background on RotF:

The RotF project set out to develop, test and deploy the latest in IIoT technologies to enhance the most important operational functions within a process manufacturing environment. It brings together a robust team of industry-leading partners (including HPE, ArubaPTC, National Instruments, OSIsoft, RealWear, and more) who have made an investment in solving real, pressing business problems and proving why IIoT matters. From PTC’s technology suite, CB Technologies is integrating elements of both Vuforia and ThingWorx. Together, we are building and integrating five solutions at Texmark’s petrochemical plant to achieve next-generation innovation, efficiency, and safety:

  1. Predictive Maintenance and Analytics
  2. Video as a Sensor
  3. Worker Safety and Security
  4. Connected Worker
  5. Full Asset Management

GP046 – IoT and AR Partner Success
Common Themes on the Road to Profitability

Our first breakout session occurs as part of the Global Partner Summit, directly prior to LiveWorx.

In this session, we will discuss why solution providers who seek success in the IoT and AR space must take the role of critical enablers and advisors who will lead their customers’ digital transformation initiatives. We will present research from the Channel Company, combined with our own insights from IIoT projects like the Refinery of the Future. And since few companies specialize in hardware, software, and services, the session will also cover when you should call on a broader set of partners to help you get to market quickly.

Session ID: GP046
Date: Monday, June 10
Time: 1:45-2:30pm
Location: Ballroom East
Speakers: Kelly Ireland (Founder & CEO, CB Technologies), Mark Williams (IPED Consulting, The Channel Company) and John Gray (PTC)

OG395I – Refinery of the Future (RotF)
Connected Worker

This session will summarize the requirements, challenges & outcome of the Connected Worker solution – one of five solutions currently being tested at Texmark Chemicals’ active petrochemical plant.

Connected Worker provides the ability to deliver critical information and diagnostics to plant personnel utilizing location-based services, mobile devices, augmented reality (AR) visualization, and security authentication. This information is role, location and context-aware, meaning it dynamically adapts to its audience. Additionally, Connected Worker enables visual remote guidance. This means on-site plant workers can collaborate with remote subject matter experts (SME) in Texmark’s Operations Control Room. The SME is then able to guide the on-site worker through complex/delicate processes such as adjusting the process attributes on critical pump equipment. The RealWear HMT-1 smart hardhat is used to provide the collaboration experience between the on-site worker and the SME, using HPE’s MyRoom VRG.

We will demonstrate the integration of PTC’s Vuforia software, HPE’s Aruba networking and access points, and RealWear’s HMT-1, as well as the operational Connected Worker mashups developed for RotF.
